Pouring love into the land
The striking lines, form and fabric of Caldera Vineyard Estate’s buildings will be a bold statement in contemporary architecture designed to celebrate the magnificent harbour landscape and the flora and fauna of our beautiful surroundings.
Preparing the estate for its future as a compelling wine destination and New Zealand’s most exclusive luxury resort is not our only priority, however.
As custodians of the land we regard it our responsibility to restore its natural habitat, bring new life, realise potential and nurture its own future.
Our vigorous programme of landscaping and restoration has already seen swathes of intrusive species replaced with thousands of native plantings and trees, encouraging the return of native birdlife including the beloved tui and kererū.
And wherever possible our landscaping works with the land, instead of just using it for our own purposes. The addition of a sizeable waterfall that follows the natural flow-line from the hills above drains run-off from heavy rains to the vegetation below, creating natural irrigation, helping to safeguard the integrity of slopes and creating yet another spectacular feature on the estate.
